Er baute 2002 den ersten Startup-Inkubator in Afrika auf und ist seit über zehn Jahren Mentor für Gründer von Technologie-Startups. Er leitete das Global Vehicles Team bei Uber und war für die Planung und die Gewinn- und Verlustrechnung verantwortlich. Er baute das Fahrzeuggeschäft von Uber in Lateinamerika auf und leitete das customer-facing Financial Services Business in Afrika südlich der Sahara. Referral Program – general

From time to time, Vay may invite you to participate in one of our referral programs to encourage people to use our service(s). Participating in a referral program (either by referring your friends or family or signing up with a referral link or code) can be a great way to receive credits on trips, discounts, or other incentives or cash (each a "Referral Reward").

Promotional Program Rules (the "Rules") apply to referral programs that are administered solely by Vay. By accepting and sharing your referral link or code or by signing up with a referral link or code, you are agreeing to be bound by these Rules. Any violation of these Rules will not only prevent you from participating in any Vay referral program (now or in the future), but could also result in the forfeiture or retraction of any outstanding credits, money, discounts, or other rewards earned through the program and even the deactivation of your account.

Please note that these Rules are in addition to the Terms of Use as updated from time to time governing your use of Vay’s app, Vay’s Privacy Policy, as well as any schedule attached to either the Terms of Use or the Privacy Policy.

What do I get out of this referral program?

For every new user that you know who successfully completes the signup process and takes their first trip using the Vay App using your unique referral code, you will receive a discount on your next trip of $20. If your next trip is less than the total amount of the discount, the unused portion will immediately expire.

What will my referral get?

Every new user who successfully completes the signup process and takes their first trip using the Vay App using your unique referral code will receive a discount on their first trip of $20, given that no other promotions take precedence (e.g. first trip $1). In case that other promotions take precedence, the $20 discount will apply on the first trip after all preceding promotions have been used or have expired. If the trip that the $20 discount applies to is less than the total amount of the discount, the unused portion will immediately expire.

Who is eligible to receive a referral discount?

Any active user of the Vay App who shares their unique referral code with a new user that they know who successfully completes the signup process and takes their first trip using the Vay App.

How will I know that my referral used my code?

You will receive an email from Vay to your account on file, and your discount will be automatically applied to your next trip. If your next trip is less than the total amount of the discount, the unused portion will immediately expire.

What are the terms and conditions?

There is no limit to how many times your unique referral code can be used or shared, but referrals made to individuals who have already created an account and taken a trip with Vay are not eligible for discounts using your unique referral code. Vay reserves the right to limit the number of times your unique referral code is used without notice.

Referral codes must only be used for personal and non-commercial purposes. You agree that you will not duplicate, transfer, or post your referral code to the general public either through digital (social media) or analog means (posting a flyer in your town). You agree that you will not send out your referral code by bulk emails, spamming, robo calls, automated bots, or other methods of mass solicitation.

Referral discounts may be in the form of discounts, bonuses, additional benefits, or other forms of compensation as determined by Vay. Participation in this program does not guarantee any financial or other benefits.

Vay reserves the right to disqualify any referrals or revoke any referral discounts at its sole discretion if there is evidence of fraudulent activity, abuse of the program, or violation of these terms and conditions.

Vay may modify or terminate this program at any time with reasonable notice to its members.

You agree not to make misleading claims about Vay, use offensive/abusive content, create fake websites/webpages/social media profiles/apps, misrepresent your connection to Vay or otherwise make any false or misleading statements to get someone to use your referral code. This program is not intended to be an inducement to participate in any illegal or unethical activity. Vay is not responsible for any damages or losses incurred as a result of participation in this program.

Promotion - “Half the price of Uber, guaranteed - Degree Residents”



What are the terms and conditions?

If your trip with Vay is more than 50% of a comparable Uber trip you are entitled to a full refund of your trip. Comparability of the Uber trip will be determined based on the following:

  • “Same time”. Screenshots of the Uber offer must indicate that the Uber trip was within a timeframe of no more than 30 minutes before the Vay trip started (you have unlocked the door of the car for the first time).
  • “Same route”. The Vay trip and the Uber trip must have similar start and end points. Your Vay trip must comprise a route that spans from point A to point B (in further text Av and Bv). Av is defined as the delivery location for delivered cars, and self-pickup location for self-pickup cars; Bv is defined as the dropoff location either through self-park or takeback by the teledriver. Both Av and Bv must be points with different geo coordinates that are not within a radius of 0.6 miles of each other. Points Av and Bv will be compared with the corresponding points from the Uber offer Au and Bu, where Au is the “pickup location” and Bu “where to” location as defined by the Uber app interface. If Av is within a radius of 0.5 miles of Au, and Bv is within a radius 0.5 miles of Bu, the points will be considered comparable.
  • “Same Trip Length.” The Uber trip time and the Vay trip time must be comparable. If the Vay trip time is within ±15% of the Uber offer as the total ride time, the Vay trip will be considered comparable to the Uber trip. The Uber total ride time is calculated as follows:
    • estimated time of arrival at destination as indicated on the screenshot of the offer excluding the wait time for a vehicle. (i.e. distance of the car “3 min away”)
  • “Same transportation option”. Comparison will be performed on the cheapest Uber transportation offer that is visible in the screenshot, exclusively of one of the following types:
    • UberX
    • UberXL
    • UberPet
    • Comfort Electric
    • Other transportation offers provided by Uber will not be taken into consideration

Screenshots must be genuine – any tampering with the data captured will make the request for refund inadmissible. Screenshots must present all the necessary information in a legible way (no obstructions will be tolerated):

  • Current global time at the time of the screenshot
  • Addresses or pins of pick up and drop off
  • Price of the option that is being considered in USD
  • Estimated time of arrival at up front destination
  • Estimated distance of the car
  • Type of transportation option as defined in the list above

In order to be eligible for a refund you need to submit the Uber screenshot within 24 hours after the Vay trip to support@vay.io

The promotion does not apply to Uber offers that have discounts applied to them as a result of entered promotional codes, UberOne membership or similar discounting/bundling mechanisms.
