How to: rent a Vay car for the first time

Looking for an affordable way to navigate Las Vegas, whether you’re a resident or a visitor? Vay makes it easy and magical – here’s everything you need to know to take your first trip seamlessly.

Before you ride

Download our app from the Australian, Canadian, German, Mexican, or US App Store or Google Play Store. We are looking to make our app available to the stores of additional countries to accommodate even more international drivers soon – stay tuned!

Once you have the app, create an account and make sure you have a valid driver’s license from one of the 100+ countries we support.  You can also check the list of accepted driver’s licenses within the app.

Your driver’s license will be checked quickly, and should be verified within 0-28 hours. We suggest setting up the app a day before your first trip.

How to order

Once your account has been verified, you’re good to get on the road! When opening the Vay app, your device’s location services should accurately pinpoint where you are. You will be able to order a Vay car to be delivered directly to you anywhere within the areas highlighted in white

You can also choose to walk to the nearest available Vay car. Locate and reserve an available Vay car nearby by tapping on it, then walking to it.

When your Vay arrives

Don’t be too surprised when your car arrives with no driver inside – that’s the magic of Vay. Each vehicle is driven at a distance by a professionally trained Remote Driver, committed to getting your vehicle to you in a safe and timely manner.

When your Vay car arrives, simply use the app to unlock it and get right into the driver’s seat. Adjust the seat, the height of the wheel, and all mirrors to your level of comfort, ensuring there are no blind spots in your vision. Your Remote Driver will disconnect from the vehicle, giving you complete privacy and total control over your ride.

Driving & stopovers

When driving a Vay car, you have complete flexibility regarding your route and stops. At $0.35/min, you can take your Vay wherever you want for an unbeatable price. You may rent a Vay for a maximum of 12 hours at a time.

Need to stop and grab a few snacks before going to explore one of Nevada’s national parks? Simply park the car, and once out of it, lock the doors by clicking a button on the app. This will put the vehicle into ‘Stopover Mode’, reducing the price to $0.05/min. When you’ve finished your errand, return to the car, unlock the doors from the app, and pick up where you left off.

Ending your ride

When you’re finished with your ride, please park the Vay within the white service area. This will ensure that our Remote Drivers can pick up the Vay and bring it to the next customer. Be mindful: do not park the vehicle in the gray zone, as you won’t be able to lock the car and end your ride.

Remote Valet (formerly Remote Driver Parking)

Finishing your trip, but no parking spot in sight? If you are within the white zone, you can now avoid the stress of circling around looking to park your Vay car. We’ll take care of driving it to the next user or park it somewhere else.

Simply find a safe place to stop your vehicle temporarily, select the ‘Remote Valet’ option in the app, and within a few minutes, a Remote Driver will connect to your vehicle. Once connected, follow their instructions and stay comfortable – they’ll let you know when it’s time to head out. And you’re all set: gather your belongings and enjoy the rest of your day. Please note that this service will end your rental.

If you have any questions, please contact our support team through the app by scrolling to the bottom of the FAQs.

We hope you look forward to your first trip of many with Vay.
