- Vay & PEUGEOT will present the world’s leading teledriving technology at the PEUGEOT Pavilion, Vivatech, between 22nd and 25 May.
- Teledriving creates unique opportunities for car sharing, car rental, light commercial vehicles
Vay has developed world-leading automotive-grade remote-driving technology – teledriving – for public streets. Vay launched its commercial carshare service in January of this year in Las Vegas (2024) and is the only company that has driven on public roads in the US and Europe without a human inside the car.
Remote driving, also known as “teledriving”, is a vehicle’s remote control and operation and represents a revolutionary advancement, serving a cost-effective standalone service. This technology could significantly impact short-distance scenarios, such as last-mile delivery of goods, vehicle flow management in logistics centers, and car sharing or rental, providing on-demand valet services for vehicle delivery and parking.
PEUGEOT and Vay have already equipped a PEUGEOT E-308 passenger vehicle with teledriving technology. They will continue to explore all activities where teledriving can improve business efficiency and customer experience by using this technology in real-life application for both passenger vehicles and Light commercial vehicles. Vay and PEUGEOT will explore use-cases for last-mile delivery, assessing the technology with a focus on B2B customers.
Phil York, Marketing and Communication director at PEUGEOT, commented: “PEUGEOT is committed to the continuous exploration of cutting-edge technologies. This collaboration with VAY, demonstrates the endless possibilities for the future of remote driving. We are excited to showcase this groundbreaking technology to our customers through the VAY Telestation on the PEUGEOT stand at VIVATECH 2024.”
Vay is a series-B (total of $110M raised to date), a scale-up technology company that launched its “click a button, get a car” consumer offering in January of this year (2024).
Justin Spratt, Chief Business Officer at Vay, commented: “We’re excited to work with PEUGEOT to bring teledriving to several vehicle categories; from the delivery sector, driving efficiency for logistics companies, to vehicle valet services for rental and car share companies. We are convinced that teledriving has many benefits that will drive up driver experience, efficiency and safety.”
