Get to know Vay—and the incredible people behind the magic—even better.
The Vay Talent Acquisition Team: Who are we? What are our roles?
Connaire: I am the Head of Talent Acquisition (TA) here at Vay, and I am based in Edinburgh, UK. I am responsible for leading the majority of our executive hiring, all European hiring, as well as the strategic goals to create a best-in-class TA function across the entire organization.

Nina: I am the founding member of the Talent and Human Resources (HR) team in Las Vegas. I was able to help create a lot of the foundational aspects for expanding the team in the U.S.
Augustine: I am a (Junior) Talent Partner at Vay, bringing extensive experience in scaling talent acquisition.
If you had to describe Vay’s culture in three words, what would they be?
Connaire: Fast, revolutionary, champions
Nina: Supportive, engaging, sustainable
Augustine: Innovative, Impact-Driven, Intuitive
What makes Vay unique, and why is hiring the right people so critical to our mission?
Connaire: Our philosophy has always been to try and work smarter than our competitors, think outside the box, and constantly innovate on how we do more with less. This is why every hire we make is the most important in the company’s history. Everyone at Vay has a unique opportunity to have high touchpoints on cross-functional topics, meaning the responsibility of each person has a direct impact on our company’s success.
We have built a team of around 170 people across Europe & the USA from 35+ different nationalities. This has developed a melting pot of unique approaches and mindsets towards addressing challenges that we face every day.

What’s one thing people might not know about hiring at Vay?
Connaire: We achieved an incredible 99% offer acceptance rate in 2024 with 77 hires, which could not have been done without TA being a true partner to our teams and all of our stakeholders buying into what we’ve built over the last years.
Nina: Across the company, but in Vegas specifically, we’ve cultivated a very unique culture where everyone is willing to help each other out and jump into situations where they feel they can support. Everyone here is willing to do the hard work and do what’s necessary in order to drive success on our roads (pun intended!)
Augustine: Our team works hard to find talent that not only fits our business needs but also includes individuals who are often overlooked. That way, we recruit people who carry excitement and make a real impact.
What’s the most rewarding part of hiring at Vay?
Connaire: The sense of amazement on every candidate’s face at the beginning of our interviews when we explain our remote driving technology – that will never get old!
Nina: I love watching the impact our new hires make once they join us, following their career growth at Vay, and knowing that I contributed to building the future and making this industry safer.

Augustine: Discovering the incredible talent in this city—diverse, resilient, and driven to succeed. Connecting passionate individuals with opportunities that give them purpose, both in their careers and community, makes hiring in Vegas truly fulfilling.
What’s the biggest difference between hiring in Berlin vs. Las Vegas?
All: In Berlin, we tap into a thriving startup scene—in Las Vegas, we take a more creative approach, uncovering tech talent in unexpected places. Since the city is largely shaped by hotels, resorts, casinos, and gaming, startup experience is less common. This makes it even more important to highlight the unique benefits of joining a startup and the opportunities it offers.
If you had to give a “why join Vay” pitch in 30 seconds, what would it be?
Connaire: I still pinch myself to be able to say I played a small part in building the company that has had so many world firsts in a completely new category of mobility. Standing on the Las Vegas Strip and watching our driverless vehicles pull up never loses its magic.
If you’re looking for a career with purpose, daily accomplishment, and the chance to work alongside some of the most incredible minds in tech, there’s no better place.
Augustine: Las Vegas is a city built on reinvention. No other company has done what Vay has here—bringing together a global team, pioneering new mobility solutions, and carving out its own place in the market. Vay isn’t following a blueprint; it’s creating one.

Any common misconceptions candidates have about Vay?
Connaire: We are not focused on fully autonomous driving, and we are not a bridge technology! Our remote driving product and service is here; it’s live and making revenue now.
Can you share a recent hire success story?
Nina: Vay is full of success stories, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds—single parents, recent graduates, and veterans—who are shaping the future of mobility.
One of my favorite stories is hiring our first Remote Truck Driver, a role that had not existed before. Finding the right person was challenging, requiring months of recruiting and weeks of interviews. Then, I met a standout candidate—someone who had built their own mock Remote Driving Station at home, demonstrating both passion and expertise. We moved quickly, and now, he’s ready to hit the ground running for our upcoming launch.

How can candidates stand out when applying?
Augustine: Standing out as an applicant starts with recognizing that we strive for excellence—and we seek the same in our hires. Candidates who pay attention to detail and strategically tailor their resumes to align with our needs have a clear advantage over those who simply take a chance.
Beyond skills, culture add is just as crucial. We look for individuals who align with our values, not push against them. Genuine eagerness, excitement, and even a bit of nervousness show us that you truly care.
At the end of the day, hiring is a two-way street. We want to ensure the role is the right fit for both sides, so candidates fully understand what they’re stepping into.
