Field Support Agents are the people who keep our vehicles ready to use whenever customers need them. Whether it’s ensuring vehicles are in the right locations or solving challenges in the moment, their work is essential to delivering a seamless experience every day.
In this blog, we’re spotlighting three of our incredible Field Support Agents: Levy, Brittany, and Mike. We discuss their day-to-day responsibilities, what it’s really like to be at the heart of operations, and how their role directly impacts our service and riders.
What is the job of a Field Support Agent?
Levy: As Field Support Agents (FSAs), we maintain the fleet by inspecting, cleaning, and charging our vehicles. Essentially, we prepare each vehicle for fleet readiness.
What does a typical shift look like for you?
All: Each shift is different, but typically, we start at Vay’s warehouse for a quick alignment meeting. The team reviews any ongoing tasks from the previous shift and discusses the priorities for the day. From there, we head out to prepare vehicles and make sure they’re ready for service.
What does “safety-first” mean to you as an FSA?
Brittany and Mike: Safety starts with our users, and making sure the vehicles they rent are 100% safe to operate. All components on the vehicle, both interior and exterior, such as tire pressure, headlights, and any signs of damage or warning indicators, are inspected and addressed as needed prior to being released back to service.
Why are FSAs an important part of Vay’s operations?
Levy: FSAs are critical because they ensure vehicles are functional and ready for use, as well as rebalance the fleet. So, our job directly impacts Vay’s ability to serve our customers.
Do you need any training or certifications for your role?
Levy: We don’t ask for any specific certification to apply for this role, as each new team member receives extensive training before going out into the field. Training includes skills such as how to properly clean a car, charge an EV, change a battery, and support the overall upkeep and readiness of our fleet. They will also learn how to use the various applications and tools needed to assist in maintaining and managing the fleet efficiently. But what’s most important is having an open mind and a positive attitude!
What is the most unexpected part of being an FSA?
Mike: We don’t work from an office building and are always on the move, which can be appealing to people who prefer more active roles.
Brittany: The tasks for the day are always unpredictable, and this position comes with constant change: vehicles require different checks and repairs, and we are always working throughout the city.
What is your favorite part about being an FSA?
Levy: Being outside and experiencing parts of Las Vegas that I’ve never been to.
Mike: I like not having to work a traditional Monday through Friday schedule. I get to be at home more with my wife, and because I have the middle of the week off, it’s easier to enjoy my time off without the usual crowds.
